Pricing

For your own business

Invoices, customers, expenses, bank transactions and journal entries are unlimited, always. What scales is payroll headcount and the number of entities — never volume.

Getting started

Compliance & Data Audit — $790 one-time

Before you move anything, we review your current books and payroll: what can be migrated, which returns and schedules have open errors, and a dated migration plan with the real effort. Delivered in 7 business days, and credited in full against onboarding if you sign up within 30 days.

Bulk Migration for Firms — $9,900 one-time

We migrate your whole client book in prioritized batches, without interrupting service to any client. Includes onboarding for your team and the first quarter of dedicated account management.

Creating the account is free. Recording real transactions is not.

You can sign up, set up your entity and see your chart of accounts, tax calendar and filing requirements without paying anything. The subscription starts when you record your first real transaction. There is no permanent free plan.

Questions before you start

What is Kangaroo Solo, and who is it for?

Kangaroo Solo is bookkeeping done for you, not software: our team closes your books every month, calculates your quarterly estimated taxes (1040-ES) and hands your tax preparer a ready Schedule C and Schedule SE package. It's for freelancers and sole proprietors — including single-member LLCs without a corporate election — with up to 150 bank and card transactions a month in one state. $399 a month, or $3,990 a year.

Does Kangaroo Solo file my tax return?

No. Your Form 1040 is signed by a preparer with a PTIN. Solo gets everything ready for them — the Schedule C and SE figures from your books — and calculates and reminds you of your quarterly estimates. Tax advice and planning (such as an S corp election) are not included.

What does the Kangaroo Solo guarantee cover?

If an estimated tax we calculate is wrong because of our error, we pay the IRS penalty and interest on the difference, and that month is free. And if Solo isn't right for you within the first 30 days, we refund your first month.

When should I move from Solo to Kangaroo Company?

When you hire your first employee, your LLC elects S corp or C corp taxation, you pass 150 transactions a month or you operate in more than one state. Kangaroo Company ($490 a month) adds payroll, Forms 1065, 1120 and 1120-S and unlimited transactions. Your books are already in Kangaroo, so there's nothing to migrate.

Do you charge per form or per filing?

No. Every form your entity type requires is included in your plan. There is no per-return fee, no per-W-2 fee and no surcharge in filing season.

Do you charge by number of invoices or transactions?

No. Invoices, customers, expenses and journal entries are unlimited on every plan. What separates one plan from the next is payroll headcount, users and reporting — never volume.

What happens if I outgrow the plan mid-year?

Past 10 employees, payroll is added in blocks of 10 at $390 a month per block. If you start running several entities or a client book, you move to Kangaroo Firm or Group and pay the difference pro rata. Your data does not change and nothing needs re-entering.

I run a firm. Do I pay one account per client?

No. Kangaroo for Firms is priced by portfolio tier with a single multi-entity console. Hiring another bookkeeper does not raise your bill, because what scales in a firm is the number of engagements, not the number of seats.

Is there a free tier?

You can create an account, set up your entity and see your chart of accounts, tax calendar and filing requirements without paying. Paying starts when you begin recording real transactions. There is no permanent free plan.

Is it cheaper to pay monthly or yearly?

It is the same product — what changes is when you pay. Paying for a full year bills ten months instead of twelve: Kangaroo Solo is $3,990 instead of $4,788, Kangaroo Company $4,900 instead of $5,880, and Kangaroo Firm $11,900 instead of $14,280 on top of onboarding. If you would rather not commit to a year, monthly has no minimum term.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from settings. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and you can export everything before or after. The firm plan has no minimum term either; because it comes with implementation and an account manager, cancellation takes 30 days' notice.
